50 Years... 50 Million Trees
To
celebrate Enterprise's first 50 years of business,
and to say thank you to our employees, business partners and customers,
our charitable foundation has pledged to work with the Arbor
Day Foundation to plant 50 million trees over 50 years across the
countries in which we do business.
The pledge was launched in 2007 and saw the first tree planting in the
UK at Loch Katrine in the Trossachs National Park. Working alongside
Forestry Commission Scotland, this planting, which was completed
last December, delivered 40,000 trees to this unique and beautiful
area of Scotland. The trees will
help rebuild this area of the park and will help preserve local
habitats for Scotland’s indigenous flora and fauna.
It is important to note that this initiative is a commitment to help global
reforestation and is not part of our carbon-offsetting programme,
rather an additional step towards improving our natural environment.
"The Loch Katrine site forms an important part of our native
woodland restoration work in the area. This contribution will provide Scots Pine, sourced from a local seed stand,
that will help to restore the natural beauty and enhance the ecology
of this iconic part of Scotland."
Russell Lamont, Forestry Commission Scotland
