Working with the Danforth Center
The St Louis-based Danforth Center is a
not-for-profit research institute with a global vision to improve
the human condition through advanced understanding and engineering
of plants. This includes enhancing plants’ nutritional content,
reducing reliance on agrochemicals and developing alternatives to
non-renewable fuels and industrial materials.
The Enterprise
Rent-A-Car Institute will focus specifically on renewable fuels, and
the Taylor family’s donation has already enabled the Danforth Center
to leverage further grants. Together, these funds will finance the
doubling in size of the Center’s greenhouse, the development of a
new laboratory and the employment of a director and two other
scientists. Up to 10 scientists already employed at the Center will
also work on renewable fuel research projects.
